Is Lumi Language actually free?

Yes, without a trial timer. You get 32 topics in each of eleven languages, the first two units of a generated course for your goal, and five tutor questions a day. Extra tutor questions are $5 for 30. The generated course is $19 as an early-bird price. Lumi Pro is $78/year for every language, unlimited tutor questions, and offline lessons.

How is Lumi Language different from Duolingo?

Duolingo teaches the same course to everybody. Lumi asks why you are learning and writes the course for that specific situation. When you get something wrong, you can ask why and get an answer in the exercise instead of just a red cross.

Does Lumi Language help with pronunciation?

Yes. Every phrase has native-quality audio you can tap to hear. In lessons you can try saying it back. On Chrome, Edge, or Safari, Lumi compares what the browser heard to the phrase. Firefox and iPhone home-screen icons send a short clip to score pronunciation. Pronunciation is part of the exercise, not a separate speaking mode.

Does Lumi Language work offline?

Lessons and your progress work offline and sync when you reconnect. The tutor needs a connection because it is a live model. Offline lessons are one of the Pro perks.

Do I have to use the goal feature to generate a course?

No. Every language has a full hand-written path you can work straight through. The generated curriculum is there for when you have a specific reason and a deadline.
