About Open Source
Open source work is rarely made by a faceless company. Behind each repository is a maintainer who answers issues late in the evening, merges a stranger's fix and decides what the project will never do. This category puts those people up front, on warm, photo-led cards, so you can see who is asking for your trust before you read a line of their code.
Here you will find products whose source can be read, run and changed, from finished apps to libraries, self-hosted tools and AI models. Pick a subcategory, narrow things with the filters, or sort by community votes to see what other people rate. Listings appear newest first by default, and votes can never be bought, so a high place has been earned by real users.

Open Source: questions answered
- What belongs in the Open Source category?
- Products and businesses whose source code is publicly available for others to read, run and adapt. That covers complete apps, code libraries, tools you host yourself and AI models. If the project is closed and only uses open source inside, a different category will usually suit it better.
- How do I choose between the subcategories?
- Start with how people use it. If it is a finished product for end users, try open source apps. If developers install it into their own code, choose developer libraries. If it runs on your own server, pick self-hosted tools. Models and training code belong in open source AI.
- How do I get my open source project listed?
- Go to /submit and paste your website address. An AI drafts the profile from that site, then you check and edit every field before anything goes live. A paid launch costs $5, while a free listing joins a queue of about 6-8 weeks.
- Can a project appear in more than one category?
- Every listing has exactly one main category, chosen when you submit and included free. If your project straddles areas, such as a self-hosted AI tool, a paid upgrade adds up to 3 more categories so people can find it from each angle.
- What should I check when comparing open source options?
- Look at the people first: who maintains it, and how clearly they explain what it does and does not do. Then read the licence, the documentation and how recently the project was updated. Community votes help, and listings are newest first until you sort by them.
